Once I read a beautiful description about Gangtok, “In the lap of the Himalayas, where the clouds dance with the mountains and the rivers sing a melody of their own, lies a paradise called Gangtok, a jewel nestled amidst the majestic peaks of Sikkim.” And this is no exaggeration. Picturesque Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim, captivates your heart from the moment you arrive.

As I stepped into Gangtok, misty hues welcomed me with crisp air caressing my cheeks. I wrapped me in a warm scarf and ventured out to feel the pulse of Gangtok, closely and deeply. This year Sikkim celebrates its fifty years as a part of India. I saw the whole city reveling in Indian pride.

Gangtok evenings are magical. I found myself surrounded by a kaleidoscope of colors. Enfolding the symphony of sounds, sights and sensations, I was lost in the mystique of Gangtok vibes. Rain soaked MG Marg, the city’s main promenade, glistened in the evening light. A sea of shops selling everything from contemporary fashion to handicrafts and plenty of roadside cafes to savor the delicacies, MG Marg has something for everyone. It is the main hub of Gangtok for the tourists and locals alike. A relaxing stroll or just sit back and be charmed.
Even though I experienced hazy panorama and frequent spells of rain as well, throughout my stay in Gangtok, yet it was a pretty view all around. From its eye catching monasteries and temples, to its bustling markets and breathtaking mountain vistas, I immensely enjoyed walking through the city and its narrow alleyways.

Gangtok is a melting pot of traditions and cultures, where ancient customs blend seamlessly with modern sensibilities. Its enchanting natural beauty casts a spell on you. This Himalayan paradise is a must visit for adventure seekers.
