Exotic Feel-EBC Trek

Beautiful morning with mystic aura surrounding Tengboche monastery. And complemented with sun drenched mountain peaks, freshened me up for my high altitude trek to Dingboche.

Passing by blooming  rhododendron forest, and breathing in the aromatic air, was a new experience, altogether. And then the thrill of trekking through  excessively slippery trail alongside raging Imja Khola river. My goodness, a slight tilt in body and I was to be swallowed up by gushing water down in river. The way I crossed that stretch, I was amazed at the perfect unison of my mind and body, there.

Trek was easier till Pangboche, a picturesque Sherpa village and resting place for tired bodies. One common scene encountered on the route, very frequently, was passing of yaks.  I tell you,  never count on the seemingly submissive looks of  yaks. They are very aggressive in temperament and very unpredictable too. I had witnessed that during my trek to Tibet. Yaks ran riot and pacifying them had been really tough. All goods they carried, were strewn everywhere.  Same caution in my Everest Base Camp trek. Not to take yaks for granted, that was what guide had been saying all over. Whenever yaks had to pass he used to ensure that I was on mountain side. I was aware, too, of the consequences.    Little push by moody yak and I might have landed up counting my crushed bones.

I was told trek from Pangboche was going to be tougher one. So heavy lunch of my favourite dal bhat followed by coffee. That was to boost my physical energy, as mentally I was ever ready for non stop  trek.

Beforehand I started moving, guide requested me not to move ahead alone otherwise he would be very worried. He told me onward trail was very dangerous and wild animal may attack. So this time I agreed and kept pace with guide and team.

While trekking from Pangboche to Dingboche  scenic views totally changed. Deserted mountains without any vegetation. Not a single soul in sight except me and my team, looked like we were aliens wandering other planet.

Later another surprise, all of sudden weather changed and everyone was caught in a blizzard. No place to take shelter. No option except kept on moving and reaching Dingboche at the earliest, but taking each step and maintaining body balance was getting harder and harder.

Yaks passing en route Dingboche. Trekking through deserted mountains. Caught in blizzard. Me and my trekking partners en route Dingboche.

Although, things were not easy to deal with, still I was savoring an exotic feel within, whilst experiencing all that thrill. Luckily snow storm subsidized later, so time to capture those beautiful moments in camera.

Once weather was clear, I paced faster. Quickly I reached Dingboche. Hurriedly changed dress and came down in dinning room sitting close to fireplace to quell my shiver. So that was my day full of adventures and misadventures.

MY Adventures continue…
